I2D (Product Designers) We are currently involved in the development of multiple products ranging from a small MRI for brain surgery to innovative playgrounds. The basis to our approach is the understanding of the underlying emotional and anthropological aspects of the product. We strive to enhance to the product by identifying unique usage characteristics rather than typical feature optimization. While designing the digital book we looked at the subtle choreography of movement that is associated with turning the pages of a book. Each such minute element is like a miniature ceremony associated with finishing reading a page. These insights were translated into innovative interface features such as motion sensors that allow for a satisfying gesture when turning a page rather than the obvious and efficient push buttons. The light tree grew out of the most mundane activity of changing a light bulb. Our interpretation resulted in a system where a single module is multiplied and attached one to another just like screwing a light bulb into a socket. This method allows for infinite configurations and design conceived by the user.
